Casey Beaumier, S.J. (Lee Pellegrini)
Vice President and University Secretary Casey Beaumier, S.J., director of the Íæż½ã½ã Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies, will speak at the University’s 68th annual Laetare Sunday event on March 31 in Conte Forum.
Laetare Sunday marks the mid-point of Lent, and this annual communion breakfast is the Alumni Association’s oldest tradition. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Mass, at which University President William P. Leahy, S.J., will preside, followed by breakfast.
Fr. Beaumier, who holds a PhD. in U.S. religious history from Íæż½ã½ã, is the inaugural director of the Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies, established in 2014 to serve as a resource on the history, spirituality, pedagogy, and educational heritage of the Society of Jesus. The institute sponsors courses, workshops, publications, and scholarly symposia, and offers a Certificate in Jesuit Studies program to foster leadership at Jesuit institutions. The institute will launch an online Jesuit bibliography this spring and will host a major conference in June.
Among other responsibilities, Fr. Beaumier also serves as director of Íæż½ã½ã’s Loyola House residence for those discerning possible Jesuit vocations; is a liaison to the Board of Trustees committee on nominations and governance; hosts and coordinates visits of international academic, religious, and political leaders; and engages in pastoral outreach to students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
